What’s On in February

1st February Butterflies in the Glasshouse at Wisley RHS Gardens. Now until – 4th March 2018. Butterflies in The Glasshouse returns to Wisley this winter, providing an unforgettable tropical retreat for visitors! Seek out more than 50 vibrant species of exotic butterflies as they fly freely among the Tropical Zone of the cathedral-like Glasshouse. 12th – 16th February Half Term Family Fun at Brooklands Museum. 10am – 4pm. Normal admission applies. On weekdays during Half Term, our popular car rides will be operating from 11am-1pm and from 2pm-3pm (subject to weather). Take a trip in a vintage-style car up Test Hill or along the Members’ Banking of the old Race Track, courtesy of the Brooklands Volunteer Car Rides Team. 17th February Music in Claygate. 8 pm. at Holy Trinity Church, Church Road, KT10 OJP. Oxshott and Cobham Music Society, offers everyone the chance to hear the astounding Hungarian pianist, Daniel Lebhardt. His programme includes: Beethoven: Sonata no. 17, Op. 31, no 2 ”Tempest”) Liszt: Apres une lecture du Dante Ravel: ”Gaspard de la Nuit” Bartok:, Sz.80. Sonata Daniel’s recital is preceded by a free informative introductory talk given by Roy Stratford at 6.50pm.on the Bartok sonata included in Daniel’s programme. Donations in the region of £3 would be appreciated towards expenses.

27th February West Surrey Family History Society Talk on “Getting the best from the National Archives and its website”. If you are interested in your family history, come and learn about how to make the most of the resources of the National Archives, either by visiting the Archives in Kew or by using their website.
