7th October Lempen Puppet Theatre presents ‘Carboard Carnival’ (the Carnival of the Animals). 9th October Veterans Support Association support and outreach meeting. From 10am-4pm. Veterans and families drop in with several service charities in attendance offering advice and support all day. 19th October Jazz at Imber Court, Ember Lane, East Molesey KT8 0BT. In past years supporters of Jazz at Imber Court have been impressed by the tightly knit Clark-Duncan Quintet. Over the last 24 months they have morphed into a sextet and their first public appearance will be for us. From 8.30pm come and listen to the sextet playing great tunes written by Benny Golson, Wayne Shorter, Kenny Wheeler and others. 23rd October West Surrey Family History Society Talk on “Mount Felix: Uncovered stories from a military hospital in World War 1”. Mount Felix was a large mansion in Walton which became a New Zealand military hospital in 1915. This talk by Nicola Lindsey shares some of the recently uncovered stories about the thousands of wounded soldiers treated there, the medical staff who cared for them, and the impact on the town.
